An ongoing statistical analysis is performed quarterly for a wood treatment site in West Virginia in accordance with USEPA’s Statistical Analysis of Groundwater Monitoring Data at RCRA Facilities Unified Guidance. Completion of a statistical evaluation is done in order to determine whether there is a statistically significant increase over background values for groundwater data.
Quarterly (since 2008) tolerance limits for each constituent are derived based on the distribution of the background data obtained from a designated monitoring well. The tolerance limits are then compared to the corresponding parameter or constituent of the downgradient wells to determine if there is a statistically significant increase over the background data.
